Some Wierd But Cool Macbook Concept Designs

Do you think you can come up with a better design than Apple for its popular products such as the MacBook and Mac mini? here is a collection of apple coolest but weird concepts. Most of them are pretty nifty, maybe the designers over at Apple would want to check it out for their next product design.

1. Macbook Water Concept

Greeks proposed a concept centuries ago that the world is made up of four basic elements namely Air, Earth, Water and Fire. Well MacBook Air is already out in the market so who says that we shouldn’t expect a MacBook Earth, Water and Fire too. Dvice has made an excellent concept of these 3, however we liked the iFluid idea MacBook Water is an iFluid device that has less booting time than a cell phone. Pour the fluid on a flat surface to get the MacBook Water started and to close it simply wipe the fluid off the surface. Storing it at temperate below 0°C voids the warranty of the product. But unfortunately it is impossible to make it now, lets hope it in next century. Via sizlopedia.
2. Macbook 3d Concept
We have stepped in world of 3D-enabled technologies. Just imagine chat rouletting in 3D! and a hingeless spine design. Take a look at this MacBook 3D. Via yankodesign.
3. Apple Mac-tribook Concept

The Apple triBook aims to resolve the issue of screen space that traditionally is a bugbear for most users of notebooks. The triBook comes with two additional side screens in additional to the main screen; thus increasing the total screen space to 21″. The two folding screens are intended to offer users more options to multi-task. However prima facie evidence, as gathered from reading other reports online, suggests that it is gamers who have responded most cheerfully to this news. Via maclife

4. Foldable Macbook Touch Concept

Introducing the first OLED touchscreen flexible macbook ever, the first laptop you can model at will. Via tommasogecchelin

 5. Virtual Macbook Air Concept
Imagine a lighter MacBook Air, with a virtual keyboard instead of the physical one. The use of two touchscreens made the need of a mouse futile and now no real keyboard, small laser projector that displays a virtual keyboard on a flat laptop surface, makes it much thinner than Dell 9.99 concepts and of course old macbook air which is much fatter in front of it via Petitinvention

6.Digi-roll Macbook Concept

This is next generation macbook concept where you can actually roll your laptop like an umbrella. Imagine how portable it’d be all rolled up. There’s an in-between configuration that you could theoretically use to browse email quickly, and the straps double as places to plug in your USB devices. It also has a detachable webcam you could use on your macbook or wear on your wrist, however digi roll is not specfically designed for apple but it would be cool to have it for macbook
via D-roll

7. Transparent Macbook Concept

A picture really does say a thousand words. Wouldn’t it be completely magical to have a transparent laptop? Via 2day

8.MacBook Mini Concept

It just looks too good and perfect to be true—which is why I want it to be real: It is less than half the size of any macbook and with the perfect, dream technical specs to boot. It features a foldable trackpad which saves up the space when you are not using the keyboard. One other mockup of the MacBook mini by the same designer is a sliding trackpad, which sounds like a better idea than the foldable one. Via slashgear.

9. Macbook with Optimus Maximus Concept

Optimus Maximus, is the dream of any heavy computer user and what if the two technologies combine? Macbook with a completely customizable OLED using optimus maximus. It would looks stunning and the minute you see it, you would realize that you are looking at a device that has some actual richness of personality and could provide a richer experience.

10. Macbook Folder Concept

Is it next MacBook? no, but everyone likes to put their 2 cents in. It’s called the Mac Folder – not all that different from any other laptop but this could be the netbook everyone wants/expects Apple to make. This ultra slim e-folder ‘Macbook Folder’ is equipped with a touch screen display, a large-button keyboard, two built-in speakers, MAC operating system, Bluetooth and wireless LAN. Via laptopinyo.

Largest Solar Powered Creations of The World

Recently, the world’s largest solar-powered office building was unveiled in Dezhou, Shangdong Province in northwest China. The 75,000-square-meter office building bears a resemblance to an ancient sun dial and reminds visitors of the importance of renewable energy. Today, we have for you the world’s largest solar powered creations that amaze us with their size and purpose they’re built for. Hit the jump to see them all…

World’s largest solar-powered office building

The world’s largest solar-powered building has been unveiled in Dezhou, Shangdong Province in northwest China. The 75,000-square-meter office building is based on the sun dial structure and marks the urgency of seeking renewable energy to replace polluting fossil fuels. The building provides space for exhibition centers, scientific research facilities, meeting and training facilities and a sustainable hotel. Dubbed the Sun and the Moon Altar micro-row buildings, the architecture features the Chinese characters for sun and moon, while the white exterior symbolizes clean energy. In addition to a massive solar array, green ideas have been applied throughout the construction process. The external structure used only 1% steel for the Bird’s nest and advanced roof and wall insulation systems reduce 30% more energy than the national energy saving standard. The building will be the main venue for the 4th World Solar City Congress.

 World’s largest solar-powered footbridge

Premier Anna Bligh has officially opened the world’s largest footbridge of its kind in Brisbane’s CBD. Constructed at a cost of over $63 million, the Kurilpa Bridge is expected to be used by about 36,500 people each week. The structure is 470m long and more than 1050 people were employed on the project. Spanning the Brisbane River, the bridge employs a sophisticated LED lighting scheme that can be programmed to produce an array of different lighting effects, which will become a feature of Brisbane’s annual Riverfire celebrations. The energy-saving lighting system will be powered by 84 solar panels that collectively generate a daily output of about 100KWh and an average yearly output of 38MWh. The solar energy generates supplies 75% of the power required to run the LED setup in the fully lit mode, but in most lighting configurations, 100% of the energy required will come from the solar panels. Surplus electricity generated by the solar array will be returned to the main grid.

 World’s largest solar powered trimaran

PlanetSolar is a multi-hull vessel, commissioned by German investor Immo Stroeher. The vessel being built at a shipyard in Kiel, Germany is said to be the world’s largest solar-powered trimaran. It will not have sails; instead will rely on solar panels to circumnavigate the world in 140 days. The triple-hull, 30-metre-long, 15-metre-wide boat will incorporate solar cells onto the 508-square-metre top of the main centre hull. The solar panels are capable of producing 1,000 watts of electricity daily. Surplus energy is stored in the batteries, enabling the 58-ton trimaran to continue its journey without sun for up to three days at a speed of 10 knots or 18 kilometres per hour.

 World’s largest solar audio system

Grzebik Design has come out with what is being called the world’s largest solar powered loudspeaker system. Located in the Taiwan National Stadium in Kaohsiung, the audio system is capable of cranking out 105 dB of sound to 40,000 spectators. The ultra-modern $5 billion Taiwan National Stadium features a stunning 14,155 square meter roof incorporating 8,844 solar panels, which emulates the form of a flowing river, and generates 1.14 million KWh annually preventing the release of 660 tons-per-annum of atmospheric carbon dioxide. The electricity generated is used to power the audio system. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito the whole system comprises of 60 distributed Apogee Sound AE-7SX weather-resistant loudspeakers for primary seating area coverage, 12 Apogee Sound ALA-5WSX weather resistant Acoustic Linear Array loudspeakers provides field coverage, and 2 Apogee Sound AFI-205 and two AFI-Point5 loudspeakers provide Control Room audio monitoring.

World’s largest Solar Power Tower Plant

Abengoa, a Spanish engineering company has developed a huge 54 story high tower near Seville in Spain. Said to be the world’s largest solar power tower plant, it consists of more than 1200-mirrored heliostats neighboring a huge tower. Called the ‘PS20 plant’, the installation has heliostats covering 1291 ft2 area each, giving the entire heliostat field a massive area of 155,000 m 2. Each heliostat tracks the sun throughout the day on two axes and concentrates the radiation onto a receiver located on the upper part of the 531 ft tower. After this, the receiver converts 92% of received sunlight into steam that is piped down to a turbine driven generator at the base of the tower. The PS20 plant is capable of generating 20 megawatts (MW) of electricity, enough to supply 10,000 homes.

 World’s Largest Solar Project

Taking advantage of the dryness of Sahara Desert, renewable energy giants are prepping up the installation of the world’s largest solar power plant that collectively will generate a whopping 100GW of concentrating solar power. Promoted by Desertec Foundation, the plant will be built by 20 blue chip German companies, who would be gathering together to discuss plans and investments to create the massive project. Unlike other solar power plants, which are usually built on a single location, this massive plant would be scattered throughout politically stable countries in northern Africa. The collective output of the plant would be 80 times larger than a similar plant being planned for the Mojave Desert. The power output would be transported across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe on high-voltage DC lines that will finally supply 15% of the energy demand. The companies involved in the planning state that similar installations have to be constructed to end the gripping energy crisis. The €400bn project would take 10-15 years to go online, but once constructed it will help other countries of the world to aim towards renewable energy generating plants to end their dependence on fossil fuels.

 World’s largest solar powered tree

Brisbane City Council have recently refurbished world’s largest solar powered Christmas tree to delight the Brisbane crowds. The beautiful tree has decked it out with new foliage, decorations and a sophisticated solar powered lighting system featuring 16,000 bulbs. Location in King George Square, the Christmas Tree features 250 red opaque baubles, a multicoloured twinkling light system and a giant star made up of solar panels for the tree’s top. The new-look tree would be more sustainable and help in saving the environment.
 World’s Largest Solar Stadium

No one has ever attempted to power an entire stadium with solar energy before, but Japan-based Toyo Ito Architects are using solar energy beyond all conventions to power the main stadium built for the World Games. The $150 million stadium can house 55,000 spectators and can power 80% of the surrounding neighborhood if it‘s solar array is connected to the grid during days when the stadium is not being used. Every inch of the stadium’s incredible 14,155-sq-m roof area is covered with 8,844 solar panels that could potentially generate a whopping 1.14GWh of electricity annually. The record braking stadium is touted to be the world’s largest solar-powered stadium.
World’s largest solar cooking system

India has been working on to escalate the use of solar energy in the country. The country is boasting the development of the world’s largest solar steam cooking system that has been installed in Shirdi in the state of Maharashtra. The system, built at the cost of about $280,000 uses solar energy to convert water into 3,500kg of steam daily, which is then used to cook food for the pilgrims visiting the shrine of 19th century saint Sai Baba. The system can feed up to 20,000 people per day and can save about 100,000kg of cooking gas annually. Of the total cost needed to install the system about 43% was paid by the government.

The Strangest And Weird Car Features

To stand out in a crowded field, automakers have to push the envelope when it comes to adding unique attributes to a vehicle. Sure, your neighbor just parked a brand-new car in his driveway—but does his new ride have glowing speakers, or a built-in perfume dispenser?

We’ve combed through spec sheets and options lists in our search for the strangest new car features. What we found is an automotive world full of creativity and, in some cases, a few items that just left us scratching our head. What exactly is a “Gentleman Function” button—and what is it doing in a BMW luxury sedan?

Grabbing the attention of car buyers isn’t made easier when even the most basic economy car often comes loaded with standard equipment such as air conditioning, power door locks and a window-rattling stereo system. Even a supercar costing $1.7 million isn’t immune to adding some razzle dazzle to set it apart from, well, all the other million dollar supercars.

2011 Mini Cooper Convertible – Openometer

Mini Cooper Convertible owners apparently need an added incentive to drop their tops. How else can we explain the “Openometer,” a tiny gauge mounted on the dashboard that records in minutes and hours precisely how long the fabric top has been kept down. Fitted as standard equipment, the Openometer, says Mini, is “a tool to help keep you aware of your openness…so you can revel in the roofless hours you’ve spent on your trip, cultivating your open mind and a tan.” Our guess is that a few BMW-Mini engineers spent too much time in the sun before coming up with this useless gadget.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 – Top Speed Key

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is among the fastest and most exclusive cars in the world. Not only do you need approximately $1.7 million to buy one, you’ll also need one very special key if you want to unlock this 1001-bhp supercar’s top speed of more than 250 miles per hour. An owner must fit the (unimaginatively named) “top speed key” before attempting to reach the Veyron’s outer limits. Give it a twist, and the Veyron’s suspension and rear spoiler are lowered for better wind-cheating aerodynamics. The steering input is also limited—at 250 mph, you want to make sure all your steering corrections are minor….

2011 BMW 750i – The “Gentleman Function”

The award for the most regal sounding— and totally bewildering—feature name goes to the BMW 7 series and the “Gentleman Function.” Located deep within the vehicle features of this refined Germany luxury sedan, the actual function of this device is less grandiose than its lofty title. Basically, it’s a clever way for the driver to make more room for rear passengers. With a few clicks of BMW’s iDrive controller, the front passenger seat can be maneuvered using the same controls used for the driver’s seat. Okay, but what’s the point? Unless you’re a limousine driver, there really isn’t one. The “Gentleman Function” allows the driver to increase legroom for rear passengers without forcing him or her to get out of the car and use the front passenger seat controls.

2011 Kia Soul – Glowing and Pulsing Speaker Lights

By now you’ve seen the cutesy commercials and are fully aware that hamsters have given the Kia Soul their full endorsement. Yet these furry household pets have a trick up their sleeve—or more exactly, a frivolous feature located in the front door-mounted speakers. Crank up the stereo in certain models of Kia Soul and watch as lights surrounding the speakers pulse and glow to the beat of the music. It’s fun, for about five minutes. After that, it’s about as enjoyable as having a bratty kid kick the back of your seat. To make matters worse, these illuminated speakers appear to be part of an ongoing recall related to the wiring harness of the 2010 Kia Soul.

2011 Ford Mustang – Adjustable Dashboard Lighting

Lots of cars have adjustable interior lighting, but the Ford Mustang takes top marks for the sheer magnitude of different colors on offer. With the scroll of a button, the Mustang’s gauge cluster can be tuned to one of literally hundreds of hues. This should really be the default sports coupe for any manager of a Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore paint store. What’s even wackier is that, in a weird way, the Mustang’s interior light show really works wonders depending on the mood you’re in. Feeling racy? Switch the gauges to a fiery red and stomp the gas pedal. For relaxed highway cruising, opting for an icy blue or forest green helps calms things down.

 2011 Fiat 500 – Perfume dispenser
2011 Fiat 500's Perfume Dispenser

We tried to limit our selection of wacky features to vehicles sold in North America. But with U.S. sales likely to begin within the next few months, we couldn’t resist offering a sneak preview of the charming (and sweet-smelling) Fiat 500 city car. As an accessory, Fiat offers buyers of the 500 a built-in perfume diffuser for this retro-styled little hatchback. Available in white or black, the electric diffuser fits between the front seats. There are currently three fragrances: Citrus, Essence of Night and Breath of Fresh Air. The intensity of the scent can be adjusted by pushing the plus or minus buttons located on top of the device. About the only drawback—other than the giggling of your friends—is that the diffuser effectively turns the dual front-cupholder into a single drink unit.

2011 Honda Element – Dog Friendly Package
Your opinion of this next feature might be determined by whether or not you have paws and a tail. If you do—or happen to live with a creature that does—then the “Dog Friendly package” offered in the Honda Element could be your (second) best friend. For $995, this option package adds pooch-friendly features like a custom-fitted, soft-sided crate, spill-resistant water bowl, electric cooling fan mounted in the cargo bay, portable ramp, dog-patterned rear seat covers and heavy-duty dogbone- patterned floormats. Extra accessories include a leash, collar, ID tag and, yes, even a dispenser for dog-waste bags. Exterior paw-print badges on the tailgate and front fenders lets everyone know you’re a proud dog owner—as if being constantly covered in Fido’s hair wasn’t proof enough.

Most Creative and Amazing Pens

10. Ostrich Pen

Source

English word “pen” originated from Latin “penna” (feather of a bird) since widespread popularity was acquired by goose feathers, which were squared at the root. However using feathers to write is a thing long past. Most of the designers move from past to future, however, this designer Arizona is moving backwards resulting in this cool creation that uses an Ostrich Head and feather.

9. Hyperdermic Pen

Source

Syringe shape injection pen with colored inks. Looks like the real thing! Just what the doctor ordered! Unique product for the medical profession. Perfect for doctors’ offices, radiology labs, hospitals and more.

8. Jack Pot Pen

Source

Pen with slot machine handle. Feeling lucky? Crank the handle just like a real one armed bandit and let the good times roll! Medium black ink.

7. Star Wars Lego Pens

Source

Combining Lego with Star Wars is, few would argue, a masterstroke. Combine Star Wars, Lego and stationary together an, as far as we’re concerned, you’re a damned genius.

The Star Wars Lego Pen Sets come with three pens offering Yoda, Darth Vader and R2-D2 in self assembly format – meaning all manner of creations are possible (most of them just not right).

6. Free Ride Pen

Source

When you want to go all out with your writing utensil, look no further than the free ride from Jean Pierre Lepine’s free ride pen. The design has quite a bit of technology involved behind it. It’s asymmetric so that the center of gravity lowers in order to give the pen a tumbler effect so it won’t roll. Jean Pierre Lepine spent months researching, testing, and perfecting it.

The Free Ride is designed to be different, ergonomic, and fun. This push top ballpoint features a soft rubber like material in the vital sections where finger meets pen. Complete with a roller wheel pocket clip and a padded push button end this writing instrument is sure to get you noticed next time you need to whip out a pen in public.

5. Sudoku and Puzzle Pens

Such pens are for those boring office meetings where you need a refreshing break for mind. These bring you plenty of sudoku, cross words, mazes and color matching and thousands of more games. Many varieties, cheap and fun!

4. Shredder Pen

Source

The young ladies are going to love this shredder pen that fits perfectly into Girl Tech’s Password Journal. There are so many secrets for the young fillies, and here’s a way to write them down and then shred them right up, Nixon-style. It’s downright therapeutic.

There’s also an FM radio inside with an attached earphone, so the snide little girls and women can completely tune you out, you, like, non-listening, like, non-understanding parent, you know?

3. UV Spy Pen

Source

The spy pen features ink that is made of special high-brightness compounds that are invisible to the naked eye, but magically illuminates when exposed to a blacklight, conveniently located on the opposite end of the pen. The blacklight allows you to read any messages left to you by your spy friends. Perfect for writing down secret spy messages, scrawling secret grocery lists, or keeping a catalogue of all of your internet

2. Pendragon

Source

This pen is crazy. First of all (wait are we still on first?) I gotta tell you that the name of this pen is “Pendragon” and it’s a construct-your-own pen. It’s name is Pendragon. What else you do you need to know!? Pendragon.

The pen has four parts. It’s got the Nib, the Central Unit, the End Part, and the Expandable Units. The Nib is the writing part. it can be changed to a ballpoint, pen, fountian-pen, mechanical pencil, or digital pen. The Central Unit has, get this, the LED light – important!, a music player, charger input, memory card, and battery. The End Part has a bluetooth connection to whatever headphones you choose to use in collaboration with the mp3s youve put in the Central Unit. Expandable Units! Camera, microphone, laser pointer, chop, corrector, usb connetion, WLAN reciever to connect to computer, internet. Bonus: pen-dock to connect to computer, charge, and work with the mic.

1. Color Picker Pen

Source

For all those out there who buy cosmetics online, “life is like a box of chocolates” You never know what color you are really going to get. Now there is a practical solution for these fashion fiascos – an ink pen by Korean designer Jinsun Park called the color picker pen. It works much like the eyedropper tool on Photoshop, this pen captures colors as they naturally appear in real life and then these colors can be used for physical drawings. A sensor detects a color in an object (your sneakers, perhaps?) and then matches the scanned color to a color display. An RGB cartridge (red, green, and blue) then mixes inks in the right proportions to create real ink that is the same color as the color scanned into the device.
Bonus: Brando Pen

Source

This device is a classic “jack of all trades/master of none”, in that while it does a wide variety of things, it doesn’t do any of them terribly well. But however, its a multifunctional gadget. It’s a 1GB USB thumb drive! It’s an MP3 player! It’s a voice recorder! It’s an FM radio! and by the way it’s a pen!
